Sewing Up Shoulder Seams and Sewing on Heads

by Vicky

I was recently asked by Lesley how to sew the head and shoulders together on a Bob the Builder knitting pattern. My advice was as follows:

To sew the shoulders together you usually weave them together. To do this take a yarn needle and weave the yarn between the two pieces of knitting to form a new row of knit stitches.

Lesley wrote back:

Thank you for your reply. I have followed your advice and managed to fix the shoulder seam.

I also ran a tighter gathering thread around the head base, which gave me a better fit to the shoulder seam. In order to hold the head in place while attaching it I used wool holders as they are nice and long and gave me something to steady the head.

Many thanks for helping out and perhaps the wool holders may help others with similar problems.

Bob the Builder looks wonderful!
